Spotted: Tiger Woods in Sun Day Red shoes, apparel at Genesis

Published

on

After last night’s brand launch event, we fully expected Tiger Woods to arrive at Riviera for practice rounds ahead of the Genesis Invitational in Sun Day Red apparel.

What was less certain — perhaps unlikely, depending on who you talked to — was that the 15-time major winner and recent FootJoy Premiere Series enthusiast would sport Sun Day Red footwear.

However, Woods is doing just that, as evidenced by these shots from our tour photographer.

While we don’t have product details for the new shoes — or much in the lineup, really — we do know product will be available at retail starting May 1. Additionally, polos will cost between $115 and $175, cashmere sweaters will be $250 to $350, per a New York Times report.

Woods and Nike ended their famed 27-year relationship in January. The Genesis Invitational is Woods’ first “non-Nike” tournament.

Check out more photos of Tiger in Sun Day Red here as well as a full WITB look.

Why Tiger’s new clothing brand is called ‘Sun Day Red’ and not ‘Sunday Red’

Published

on

This week, TayorMade and Tiger Woods released their new clothing line, called “Sun Day Red”.

The promotional video was fantastic, but golf fans were a bit perplexed by the fact that “Sun Day” was two words rather than one.

While speaking to the New York Times, TaylorMade’s CEO, David Abeles, explained the meaning.

“Sunday red is the color that Mr. Woods has made very famous on Sundays, but Mr. Woods plays golf on more than just Sundays.”

Abeles also talked about the importance of “three’s”

That clears it up, right?

Tony Finau’s wife is ‘selling’ his golf clubs for 99 cents (including a free Foresight launch monitor!)

Published

on

Early this week, Tony Finau’s wife, Alayna, decided to sell Tony’s golf clubs.

In a TikTok video, Alayna explained, “It’s Feb. 12 and he hasn’t asked me to be his Valentines yet … ”

“Golf Clubs for sale, 99 cents. Hits far, thick grips, custom leather, head covers, Foresight launch monitor included,” Alayna added.

While speaking at his pre-tournament press conference for this week’s Genesis Invitational, Tony said,

“I’m not on TikTok but yesterday one of the equipment reps said to me, ‘Your wife is so funny. I can’t believe she’s selling (your clubs) for 99 cents.’ I just went along with it and smiled but in my head I was thinking, ‘I don’t really know what he’s talking about,’ “Then I went on Instagram and saw a post about it and I had a good laugh. It’s too funny.”

This is an important reminder out there to make sure we all remember our significant others on Valentines Day!

Will your scores suffer if you play clubs from 10 years ago? – GolfWRXers discuss

Published

on

In our forums, our members have been discussing the impact (if any) playing clubs from 10 years ago will have on scores. WRXer ‘theothertwo’ kicks off the thread asking:

“Will your scores suffer if you played with your driver, fairway woods, hybrids, irons, wedges and putter?  If so, how many strokes more?

The advantage of new clubs will be technology of course.  The advantage of old clubs is familiarity and mastery.”

And our members have been weighing in with their thoughts on the matter in our forum.

Here are a few posts from the thread, but make sure to check out the entire discussion and have your say at the link below.

  • TheDominator273: “Probably a couple strokes improvement with a well fit current driver, and if the wedges have been used for a decade, fresh wedges (not necessarily needing to be current line stuff) are probably worth at least a stroke a round as well just by having new grooves.”
  • GHIN n Juice: “Nah.  2013 I was probably playing an SLDR or Cally Optiforce440 and a set of mp53s. I could easily put any of those back on the bag and not miss a step today.”
  • PARETO: “Suffer? Not even a little in the irons or putter. My low round last year was with 23 year old irons and a 16 year old putter. Driver / shaft on the other hand is where gains lie over the past 10 years. Oh and fresh grooved wedges.”
