Korn Ferry Tour pro left ’embarrassed and ashamed’ following brutal DQ from event
John Lyras was looking forward to his debut on the Korn Ferry Tour. Unfortunately, it only lasted one hole.
While playing in the Bahamas Great Exuma Classic, Lyras thought he hit a ball in the water, so dropped a new ball before finding his original and playing that instead.
Ryan French of Monday Q Info shares the story.
“The group of Josh Creel, Andrew Kozan, and Lyras teed off this morning on the 10th hole at Sandals Emerald Bay Golf Club in the first KFT event of the season. The 10th is a 460-yard par-4 with water all down the right. On his second shot, Lyras hit his ball at a penalty area right of the green, and assumed it was in the water. Since he was the last to hit his approach shot, both Creel and Kozan were up near the green when Lyras hit.
When they turned around, Lyras had dropped a ball in front of the penalty area and according to Creel, Kozan motioned that Lyras’ original ball was not in the water and playable. Lyras then picked up the ball he had just dropped and played the hole out with his original ball. (Once you drop a ball, it is in play, therefore you can’t pick it up and play the original ball)
Soon after, Lyras realized he had made a mistake, and the group discussed the situation. A few holes later, the group ran into a rules official and explained what had happened. According to the group, the rules official wasn’t sure what the penalty was and told the group he would get back to them.
At the turn, the rules official interviewed the entire group and soon after, Lyras was informed he was disqualified.”
Lyras posted on his Instagram story after the disqualification.
“Amazing what happens when you’re super excited and anxious all together. You make stupid and quick decisions that can cost you so much, everything you worked for.”

Why Tiger’s new clothing brand is called ‘Sun Day Red’ and not ‘Sunday Red’
This week, TayorMade and Tiger Woods released their new clothing line, called “Sun Day Red”.
It started with a passion. The passion of competing. Of competing against ourselves. The field. The course. Life. Out of that passion, @SunDayRed rises.

The promotional video was fantastic, but golf fans were a bit perplexed by the fact that “Sun Day” was two words rather than one.
While speaking to the New York Times, TaylorMade’s CEO, David Abeles, explained the meaning.
“Sunday red is the color that Mr. Woods has made very famous on Sundays, but Mr. Woods plays golf on more than just Sundays.”
Abeles also talked about the importance of “three’s”

That clears it up, right?

Billy Horschel responds after losing cool with fans during Phoenix Open
During last weekend’s Waste Management Phoenix Open, Billy Horschel snapped at fan who was making noise during players’ pre shot routines.
“Buddy, when he’s over the shot, shut the hell up!” Billy exclaimed “He’s trying to hit a damn golf shot here, it’s our f*****g job!”
The event got a bit out of control, with drunk patrons starting fights and falling over during much of the weekend. Eventually, alcohol sales were ceased and the gates were closed due to the unruliness of the fans.
This week, Horschel went on Sirius XM PGA Tour Radio to discuss why he lost his cool.
"I was displeased about the level of respect they were showing"

“We’d just started our second round, we’re on the 11th hole and [Galletti] is over his second shot. We had told some fans over there to be quiet as he was about to hit. There were three or four guys over there that continued to talk and say some things.”
“They talked very loudly when he was over his shot, and I just feel like there was a loss of respect there. The guy is trying to play his shot, he’s trying to do his job. It’s the third day of the tournament and we hear a lot of different things.
“I just responded to it afterwards that I was displeased with the level of respect that was shown towards a fellow competitor while he is trying to hit a golf shot and compete in a golf tournament. And that’s just the simple fact of it.”
Horschel shared his opinion that many seem to be in agreement with, that the event has crossed the line from fun to unenjoyable.
“Has this tournament crossed the line? Yeah, I think the last couple of years have been a little much,” he added. “I think it has just got a little bit out of control. I just go back to the respect factor of it for what we’re trying to do in ours jobs.”
“I’ve read a few messages on social media like “you know what you signed up for” and “if you can’t take the heat then don’t show up,” but I’m like, this tournament was never about going there and being ridiculed by the fans. That was never the idea of this event.”
The event has vowed to fix the issues at hand, so hopefully changes are on the horizon for the 2025 version of the Waste Management Phoenix Open.

“Golf Clubs for sale, 99 cents. Hits far, thick grips, custom leather, head covers, Foresight launch monitor included,” Alayna added.
While speaking at his pre-tournament press conference for this week’s Genesis Invitational, Tony said,
“I’m not on TikTok but yesterday one of the equipment reps said to me, ‘Your wife is so funny. I can’t believe she’s selling (your clubs) for 99 cents.’ I just went along with it and smiled but in my head I was thinking, ‘I don’t really know what he’s talking about,’ “Then I went on Instagram and saw a post about it and I had a good laugh. It’s too funny.”
This is an important reminder out there to make sure we all remember our significant others on Valentines Day!
